Upward Bound is a federally funded program aimed to improve the graduation rates of high school students and increase the number of graduates who continue with post-secondary education. Upward Bound program primarily serves low-income families with students who are the first-generation to attend college.
Academic Year
Students enrolled in the Upward Bound program during the acadamic year will receive tutorial sessions, educational/recreational & cultural events, group activities, exploration of post-secondary education opportunities & visits to campuses, financial aid application assistance, and may participate in the six-week summer program on the UAF campus.
Summer Program
The UAF Upward Bound and T3 Alaska project is now accepting applications for the summer 2025 sessions, with a registration deadline of Saturday, March 1, 2025.
There are three summer sessions available in three different locations and date ranges:
- Your Future Role in Alaska, June 17-July 1, 2025 at UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus
- Drafting Dreams: High School Summer Writing Academy, June 3-July 15, 2025 at UAF Troth Yeddha’ Campus for NPHS students or Remote Online for all other qualifying students
- Tech Meets Nature: Remote Bear Cameras and Data Collection in the Tongass, May 27 – June 14, 2025 in Wrangell, AK for returning students
