Michelle Spillane, Director of Upward Bound
Michelle is from Fairbanks, Alaska and has received masters degrees from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Education and from the University of Alaska Southeast in Educational Leadership. Over the past twenty years she has taught career technical education (CTE), science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), language arts and history courses. She also enjoyed serving as a high school principal. She is deeply invested in promoting access in education for all students. She understands the need for career and college guidance for students as well as the importance of ongoing professional development for educators. Michelle is a first generation college graduate and attributes her own success to opportunities presented during her high school years. Her passion is connecting students with community partners to solve local problems that result in college readiness and workforce development for Alaska.
